You can’t go back.

You can’t undo the heartache that you never meant to cause.

You can’t unsay the words that you said before you thought.

You can’t heal the wounds you’ve left behind.

You can’t win back the hearts for which you never fought.

So say you’re sorry if you truly mean it.

Learn the lesson if you want to grow.

Set your sight on the things before you.

You’ve got to learn to let the past go.

Let the mistakes that you’ve made be your teachers

Let the darkness of your past be your guide.

Find your light as you’re moving forward.

And don’t you ever let your soul hide.

Let guilt lead you to goodness,

but put the shame away.

There’s so much more to who you are

than the things you didn’t mean to say.

If you want to love the world better,

you’ve got to learn to love yourself first.

If you want to see the best in others,

you’ll have to forgive yourself your worst.

If the shackles you’re wearing grow heavy,

don’t forget that you’ve got the key.

Love big and own your story,

that’s what it will take to set yourself free.

Your very best intentions,

will never lead you back in time.

So lean into your growth,

and remember to appreciate the climb.

    1. Thank you for saying that! Honestly, I struggled to post it because I don’t think I’m a strong poet. But I felt like that was the way the words were coming into my heart.
